Hey Hi Hey!
So I realize that my blog is called espressoandFIT, and that I don’t really post a whole lot about fitness….
Reason being is; I started my blog originally as just an instagram page for people to follow my first half marathon training. I had intentions of turning it into a blog (a fitness blog) but life had different plans. I started sharing my heart because writing was (& is) the only thing that helped me to organize my thoughts, to express myself and to heal. I received an overwhelming response to the vulnerable things that I shared and realized that people need to hear that everything is going to be okay more than they need a good butt workout.
BUT nonetheless, I do plan to post more about fitness as it is a major part of my life. I have lots to share with you so stay tuned!
In the meantime, I learned a new trick that I’m low key IN LOVE WITH.
I call it: HONEY’ING; WORKOUT LIKE YOU’RE MOVING THROUGH HONEY
I’ve started applying this to my yoga practice and WOW what a game changer. I do yoga 4-5 times a week and after adding this change, I noticed my muscles much more tired and sore (good thing) afterwards. Honey’ing also helped me to really take in my practice; slow, controlled movements are always more intentional.
Impressed with the results from honey’ing in yoga, I decided to add it to my weight lifting routine and WOW, WOW, WOW. #GAMECHANGER.
Here’s What I Did:
I did 4 sets of squats with a squat rack. I used a lighter weight and did more reps BUT did them super, super slowly and super, super controlled (like, annoyingly). I didn’t let my mind wonder, I focused solely on my quads/glutes. I imagined/visualized a fire burning within them.
Can I just say, I workout 6 days a week and I like to think that I’m in pretty great shape but HOLY CRAP my legs hurt the next day. They actually felt like they were 1000 pounds (each).
I tried the same with bicep curls, shoulder presses, lunges, dead lifts and push ups. The push ups actually were so hard ha!
Give it a try & lemme know what you think, honey! 🙂
Fire & Strength,
