You Are So Much More Than How Someone Loves You

“Despite how open, peaceful, and loving you attempt to be, people can only meet you, as deeply as they’ve met themselves. This is the heart of clarity.” – unknown.

Here’s a thought:

What if every person that you wished loved you differently… only had a certain capacity to love?

What if the way that they do or don’t treat you is a direct reflection of them… not you?

What if your path in life has nothing to do with those that stay or those that leave? But instead it has everything to do with you (and only you)?

Would that make the disappointment easier? The sting less painful? NO.

But it does provide a sense of peace… That there is only so much that you can do to influence how someone loves you.

If today, your heart is heavy… If today, you are disappointed by how someone in your life isn’t loving you. If today, you are hurt, broken and/or confused by people. Then hear me;

So what happens when you place your worth in how someone loves you? You start to accept a lower version of yourself. You start to buy into harshness. You start to buy into disapproval. & in turn, you begin to practice harshness and disapproval.

For too long I’ve placed my worth in the (lack of) love that I’ve received. It really changed my life when I decided that I was worth more, when I decided to set boundaries, when I decided that I’m me & that’s the best I can do. I don’t have to conform to be loved. And neither do you.

Also, be careful to not just immediately fill “gaps” in your life with those that don’t have a capacity to love you, simply because you see an open space.

Love is a universal experience. A universal emotion. Everyone is, in different ways, searching for it.  So while on your search, please take this heart advice; Not everyone has a capacity to love you (yet). And you are (always) so much more than how someone loves you.
