3 Hacks For Beautiful, Glowy Skin

I haven’t mastered acne (yet), but I do have a few tricks up my sleeve to achieve a noticeable glowy complexion.

I receive compliments all of the time on my “glowy skin” – which, if you deal with skin problems in the way that I do.. when someone notices something positive about your complexion it means EVERYTHING.

You too can unveil your natural, beautiful glow and it’s actually EASY.

Eat Your Glow

Think about things that glow… The sun. What words would you use to describe the sun? Bright, orange, yellow, etc. What foods fit that description?

Oranges, carrots, sweet potatoes, orange/yellow peppers, papaya, cantaloupe, apricots, peaches, pumpkins, mangoes.

Why does it work? These foods get their glow from vitamin A in the form of an antioxidant called beta-carotene and retinol. This helps to prevent cell death, wrinkles and sun burn – enhancing your skin’s best glow. Retinol is also an exfoliator (perhaps you’re familiar with the prescription-grade topical that sloths your skin off) that works from the inside out.

Exfoliate Often

I’m currently obsessed with this product from Target. It was under $20, it smells delicious and it actually works.. like right away. I love instant gratification because you know, I’m a millennial and all.

Anyways, it’s Pixi Glow Tonic. I use it with an organic cotton ball after I wash my face. It gently exfoliates and tones your skin and it has a higher-end-grade formula for half the price.

I also SHAVE MY FACE. I bought these little facial razors from Amazon that I love. I’d link them for you but my Amazon store is currently under construction. Just search for facial razors… they come in a colorful pack!

Dr. Dennis Gross recommended in a podcast once to shave in every direction, because your hair grows in every direction.

Shaving your face gets rid of all of that peach fuzz to show your glow. This also helps products to absorb better and makeup to sit nicer.

Get Bold

I’m not even kidding. Embrace the things that make you shine, feel bright, feel bold, set you apart, etc.

The things that make you “glow” will ooze out of your skin, manifesting that glow onto your physical self.

When I stopped ignoring/hiding the things that made me, me – I really did notice a sort of glow across my face.

The same can hold true for new moms, a bride, someone starting a new career… It’s embracing that exciting dimension about yourself or your life that you otherwise don’t get to express often!

Being present or practicing mindfulness will also put a beautiful glow into your skin. Think about a house full of people lit up in the evening. All of the lights are on, people are home… it feels warm and inviting. The same is true for your physical body. If someone is home (present in your mind), the house (your body) will look and feel more glowy & inviting.

Your skin is a reflection of what is happening on the inside of you (your heart), so embrace the things that make you special and unique and beautiful. Your skin will thank you.
